THE 5TH WAVE

Photo via BarnesandNoble.com

Could this be the next Hunger Games? ... Maybe, but this book definitely has its own identity. The depths of these characters and circumstances are surreal. One minute you think you know who you are, and then the next you don't. Keeping the question of "who am I?" In the back of your mind. As I've been reading it seems that keeping promises are important to these characters, which is one of the elements I love about this book. The one thing that I found the characters have in common is their promise to one another, and the lengths they will go to keep it. You probably want to know what that promise is, but you're just going to have to read the book. I wonder if they will ever find out the truth and keep their promises, but I guess I have to keep reading to find out.

Overview: After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.
Now, it's the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth's last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie's only hope for rescuing her brother—or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.
